Western Sydney Fire Stations Upgrades Complete

Upgrades to the Liverpool and Macquarie Fields Fire Stations are now complete. Completed over 6 and 8 weeks respectively, these projects involved internal demolition and refurbishment to meet New South Wales Fire & Rescue requirements. Both fire stations remained operational throughout construction despite the scale the works undertaken.

New England’s site management was critical to the success if this project. Daily communication with the Station Commander and other occupants was vital to the on time delivery in a safe manner.

Another Stage at Collegians Wollongong Carpark Construction Underway

Carpark construction has commenced at Collegians Rugby League Football Club, Wollongong. Having recently completed the award winning $9.75 Million internal renovation and extension to house the Club’s hospitality offering the car park required additional compliant car parking to accommodate the increased club patrons.

With demolition completed in August, the piling rig arrived onsite yesterday and got straight to work. The car park will be delivered before Christmas and will provide the club with additional car spaces to meet the current demands with potential future demands considered in the engineering and design.

New England gets involved with Corrimal Leagues Club’s Project Improve

The main considerations for this project were:

  • Minimal disruption to club operation,
  • Appealing façade to accommodate future upgrades
  • Low maintenance finishes with longevity
  • Maintaining tight budget constraints

In understanding the client’s needs the gaming extension was coordinated to allow ongoing operation of the club’s existing outdoor gaming.

Over the 9 week construction period the club was without their outdoor gaming for only 3 days to allow change over and commission of the gaming machines.

Patronage was maintained during construction and has now increased since completion. The future thinking of Group GSA also means that without further extensions the club now has room to increase their gaming as the club grows. In collaboration with Group GSA, we as a team were able to deliver a project which ticks all the boxes for the club.

Thank you to everyone involved for your efforts and inspiration on this project.

As patrons begin to fill the new outdoor gaming terrace at Corrimal Leagues we are excited for the new things to come at Corrimal Leagues Club.

We encourage everyone to come experience the Illawarra.

Thinking of completing works to your outdoor gaming? We can help you “build your business”. New England Constructions, Construction Companies Sydney and Illawarra.

Is there entrepreneurial inspiration in the construction industry?

How do we change the status quo? No longer is the industry dominated with builders in a Holden Ute with a Cattle Dog in the tray. Now there is a growing group of sophisticated builders, looking to change this perception.

Last week I was speaking with my Managing Director, John and he said that building and construction management had become a commodity. There are so many competent builders out there, anyone can do the job but just being able to complete a project is not why a client comes to you.

Then why do they engage a certain builder over another?

Whilst I have had interactions on both sides of the fence; with dozens of construction firms in hospitality, education, government and residential, I did not realise that not all builders provide the same service.

As a first home buyer in a new development and talking to my neighbours, I realised that effective client communication is not a given. Replying to missed calls and emails is not mandatory, it can be a luxury feature of the contract. The interpretation of defects rectification was also another item I found interesting.

As a project manager my #01 priority after site safety is client satisfaction and #02 is longevity of the end product. How do we answer the question; What does the client want and what do they need? Are their wants and needs aligned?

These questions are unique to each client and something a simple LinkedIn post can’t answer. This is something I plan to investigate and explore in the coming months but these questions have kick started my need to want to know more.

On Monday I went to a Business Networking Lunch held by the East Suburbs BEC and Bondi Chambers of Commerce. Before this event I had never heard of Lisa Messenger or the Collective Hub. I left with a yearning to know more about entrepreneurship and with a plan to develop and extend the entrepreneurial history of New England Constructions.

Again, I don’t have the answers but I have some ideas.

Stay tuned.

NEW ENGLAND- Successfully hands over (on time and under budget) “Bistro Kitchen, Back of House and Bar @ COLLEGIANS RLFC. Stage 2 of 3 $10M project

On the eve of the Christmas holidays, New England Constructions handed over the latest stage at Collegians Rugby League Club. With the final touches complete, the doors were opened to the tourist trade and Christmas patrons on the 22nd of December 2015. This is the second stage of the $10 million Collegians RLFC Refurbishment and Extension signifies another project being delivered on time and under budget by New England Constructions.

The project at Collegians RLFC involves the creation of three new and different spaces.

  • Kitchen on Charlotte is the heart of the Collegians RLFC which caters for all members of the family. An extension to the club was required to deliver this new space which also incorporates a full commercial kitchen, new back of house facilities including cool rooms, new loading dock and reconfigured car park. The polished concrete that flows through Kitchen on Charlotte, extending to the new bathrooms to continue the industrial style.
  • Factory Ribs, Steak and Pizza Restaurant was designed and constructed to provide an alternative to the traditional club bistro. This trendy eatery has enough room to seat 120 people including its very own private dining room for intimate dinners of up to 16 people. The Factory was accelerated to be open for Melbourne Cup in November.
  • Bar 67 is a relaxed area filled with comfortable armchairs and vintage furniture to suit the feel of a whisky lounge. We rose to the challenge of creating this space while supporting the existing slab above and keeping the club fully operational. The main features of this space is the new lift and modification to existing stairs to ensure the space is adaptable to the Club’s needs and events.
  • The design of this project was done in collaboration with Nicholas Associates Architects and Split Watermelon Interior Designers. The aim was to achieve an inviting feel to the three spaces, through extensively using recycled materials and polished concrete. Working on the material selection, we wanted to make sure the brief was fulfilled to the nth degree. To do this the New England team set out to find recycled materials with rustic character. Numerous timber features including the barn door, timber columns and ceiling features us in stage 2 were originally from Woolloomooloo Wharf. We also sourced the feature timber wall made up of individual logs from a Castlereagh estate on the Nepean River.

Stay tuned for the final piece of the puzzle to be delivered by New England Constructions at Collegians Rugby League Club.

We look to go above and beyond for our clients to make sure it’s exactly what you want. If you have would like to have a chat about something you have in mind for your club, pub, restaurant or hotel please give me a call or send me a message on linkedin. We are always here to help.

OFFICIAL OPENING CLUB MUDGEE

Club Mudgee has officially launched its new bistro and wine bar, 99 on Mortimer, the final step in a $1.7 million redevelopment of the club.

Member for Orange Andrew Gee helped Club Mudgee CEO Maureen Hutchison and board chairman Bill Crossingham to cut the ribbon and declare the new-look premises officially open at a launch on Tuesday evening.

Mr Gee described the result of the 12-month renovation as “stunning”.

“I am deeply impressed with what I have seen,” he said.

“You have taken dining and entertainment in a venue such as a club to a whole new level.”

Mr Gee said Club Mudgee was a focal point for meetings and community activity in Mudgee and the surrounding district.

“In many ways Club Mudgee is the heart of Mudgee,” he said.

The 99 on Mortimer launch showcased Robert Oatley Wines and James Squire beers and ciders, as well as local produce from the bistro kitchen.

In a first for the club industry, the club has contracted VBNL – a partnership between master chef Vivian Buck and maitre d’ Nelson Loyola – to run the bistro and wine bar.

A signature “99 on Mortimer” red wine will be available soon.

“This is one of the best venues I think we’ll see on the side of the mountains,” said John O’Neill of Lion brewery.

Although Tuesday evening’s launch was scheduled to run for an 90 minutes, many guests including businesses involved in the renovation, and representatives of local businesses, tourism, Mid-Western Regional Council, Clubs NSW, Lion Brewery, media and the Mudgee Dragons lingered until late in the evening to enjoy the new facilities.

Mr Crossingham thanked club members and the public for their patience during the renovation and New England Constructions & Nicholas Associates Architects for their efforts.

The Club Mudgee redevelopment also includes a new entrance, an extended games area, alfresco dining area and children’s room.

A delicatessen selling quality small goods and cheeses will open as part of 99 on Mortimer soon.
