Location:
Chatswood
Client:
Diocese of Broken Bay
Year:
2009
Duration:
23 Weeks
Value:
$1,960,000 GMP
Project features:
New free-standing classroom block and conversion of existing building to library
Successful project outcome:
- Minimal disruption to school during HSC and frequent assemblies of adjoining church
- Successful management of site access and movement of materials within constrained site located centrally in Chatswood CBD
Located in the CBD of Chatswood, this project included a 380-sq m library and learning centre refurbishment along with a new 350-sq m standing classroom block. Large-scale external works included a seating assembly with a shade structure that can accommodate all school students.
With the site situated in a very busy area of the Chatswood CBD, a detailed materials-handling management and procedures plan was initiated to address truck access and student safety. The project was completed ahead of programme, notwithstanding extended delays imposed for ‘noise control’ during
Higher School Certificate examinations. There were no variations to the guaranteed maximum price.
I have no hesitation in recommending New England Constructions, as a building contractor who is reliable, honest and builds quality projects, on time and with few if any variations.
