“Gymea Bowls” is the premier bowling destination in the Sutherland Shire. The original Club facilities were old and “dated” and not suited to contemporary bowling membership needs. A Masterplan was developed in conjunction with the Club’s Board and Management; this plan provided a new main Club entrance & reception foyer, extensive internal and external dining facilities and upgraded general lounge and gaming facilities. The Masterplan established a priority of independent stages that could be constructed separately over a period of time to suit the Club’s Capital Expenditure Budget. The Stage 1 Budget was established at $1.5m.
A unique feature of the project was the necessity for close co-operation between the Club’s (Management & Staff) and New England’s Site Management team to ensure that minimal interference occurred to the Club’s day to day operations and the adjacent neighbourhood residence and business activities; this was achieved by conducting regular site meetings to manage potential problems in advance. Traffic and pedestrian safety management issues were also discussed on a regular basis. Environmental considerations included noise and dust control management.
